Every day, we’re committed to making changes, big and small, to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing process. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and it drives us to innovate and improve continuously.
In 2018, we took a major step in our sustainability journey by switching to compostable film for our packaging. At the time, most packaging materials weren’t recyclable and ended up in landfills—a reality that didn’t align with our values. We knew we needed to find a more eco-friendly alternative.
Fast forward to today, and the world of packaging has changed significantly. One of the most important developments has been the expanded recyclability of films. For example, polypropylene film, which used to be destined for landfill, is now recyclable. This shift is a game-changer, allowing food packaging to stay within a closed-loop recycling system instead of being diverted to composting or landfill.
But our dedication to sustainability goes beyond packaging. We’ve made considerable progress in reducing our carbon footprint by partnering with Net Zero International to set ambitious goals: cutting our carbon emissions in half by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2045. For a small, independent business like ours, this is a significant challenge that requires careful management and substantial investment.
Here’s what we’ve achieved so far:
- LED Lighting Installation: We’ve replaced about 130 light fittings across our site with energy-efficient LED lights, significantly reducing our energy usage.
- Upgraded Air Compressors: We’ve upgraded our air compressors to highly efficient models, further lowering our energy consumption.
- Employee Training: We’ve held training sessions to educate our team on waste and energy reduction, ensuring that everyone is on board with our sustainability goals.
And we’re not stopping there. Next summer, we’re planning to install a 150-panel solar array (55 kWp) on our roof. This investment will help us further reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we recognize that there’s still much work to be done. We remain committed to taking the necessary steps to meet our carbon reduction targets and to making our business as sustainable as possible.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We’re excited about the path ahead and look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of sustainability in our industry.
Stay tuned for more updates as we work toward a greener future!
