There is no standing over a stove involved, just throwing things together in a dish and letting the oven do all the work. This is a fantastic way to beautify your humble oats, and will guarantee lots of ‘ooos’, ‘ahhhs’ and licking of lips. There are endless options with flavours, but we adore pear and walnut, especially with the added kick of ginger and crunch of apple. Here's our recipe:
150g Stoats Unique Scottish Porridge oats
1 large pear, diced
1 apple, diced
1 handful candied ginger, rinsed and chopped
1 handful walnuts, chopped
200ml milk
200ml water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon soft butter
Combine the oats, chopped fruit, nuts, ginger, milk and water, and allow to soak for 10 minutes.
Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, sprinkle over the brown sugar, and dot over little blobs of the butter.
Bake at 180 for 30 minutes or until golden brown and almost bubbling up at the edges.
Serve once cooled slightly, and top with yogurt, fruit, milk, or cream.
Enjoy!
